Asher Novek found his passion for writing and production in high school. He founded the TV production department at John F. Kennedy High School, which placed 4th in a county wide short film festival in its first year. He attended NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and double majored in dramatic writing and film production. He wrote and shot several short films (Roulette, Enormous Penis, Penny, Slides and Circles), and wrote and co-directed a feature length film (The Contingency 4) over a summer. After graduation, he worked freelance production for a few TV shows and commercials; including The Food Network's "Chopped", Discovery Channel's "Flipped" and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, back when Conan was still at Late Night. He also co-directed a promo for Robby Benson's book "Who Stole the Funny?"

Then, somehow, Asher found his way into the New York City public sector, working for the NYC Comptroller's Office. While his duties range in scale and topic, he was asked to serve as Production Manager for the office's first ever State of the City speech given by a New York City Comptroller. He is also working on his master's degree in International Communication and Accessibility at NYU's Gallatin School for Individualized Study. He has kept up with his writing due to the supportive, nurturing and constant nagging of the Cockpit Writer's group, and continues to work on screenplays and TV writing.
